CENTER GROVE GLOBAL CAMPUS
Center Grove High School's Global Campus provides online courses for students enrolled at Center Grove High School. The courses are all taught by Center Grove High School teachers, and students earn credit(s) toward their Center Grove High School diploma. The Purpose of Center Grove Global Campus is to create an engaging and supportive learning community designed to meet the diverse academic goals for all students in flexible learning environments. To accomplish this purpose we are encouraging, reflective, compassionate, growth-minded and student-focused. We believe that Center Grove Global Campus is one path to the district vision of "exceptional educational experience" for all.
WHY GLOBAL CAMPUS?
Global Campus recognizes that not every student learns the same way, at the same time, or at the same pace. Global Campus seeks to remove barriers and create new opportunities so students can receive the best possible learning experiences for the next steps in life. Global campus courses are teacher created, curated, and monitored making it a truly unique remote learning experience. During the school year, students can schedule Global Campus courses any period of the day. Students can also elect to take a Global Campus course in the summer to free up their schedule during the school year for more Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, or special interest electives. To be eligible for Global Campus, students must maintain a GPA of 2.5.
Through our seat waiver program, students have the possibility of completing their Global Campus coursework at a location other than school, such as a coffee shop, home, etc. The seat waiver program is a privilege, and students are expected to demonstrate academic accountability and responsibility in their coursework to meet eligibility requirements and maintain the waiver. This hybrid flexible model of remote learning adds to the exceptional educational experience we provide in Global Campus. To be eligible for a seat waiver, students must maintain a GPA of 2.75.
HOW DOES GLOBAL CAMPUS WORK?
Global Campus courses are provided online via our Learning Management System, Canvas. Coursework is broken down into digestible chunks called modules, and typically, our courses are paced by the instructor. While students have the flexibility to complete their work ahead of schedule, they are expected to meet the targeted deadlines. Coursework requires an ongoing effort on the part of the student, and students should expect to log in to Canvas daily. As they work through the modules of their course, they are expected to connect with their teacher and classmates to complete various online assignments, group chats, discussion forums, etc.
WHO CAN TAKE GLOBAL CAMPUS COURSES?
Global Campus courses serve any current high school student or incoming high school student who is interested in online learning to earn credit towards graduation. This includes public/charter school, private school, and home school students.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IGNITE AND A REVIVE COURSE?
- An IGNITE course allows a student to obtain initial credit for a Center Grove Grade 9-12 class.
- A REVIVE course allows a student to complete a course for credit recovery or grade improvement.
